Uzbekistan player bag Pakistan Jrs Tennis C’ships title

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khaitbaev of Uzbekistan clinched the boys singles title of ITF Pakistan Juniors Tennis Championships leg-1 here at PTF-SDA Tennis Complex on Saturday.

In Boys Singles Imran Khaitbaev outplayed Amir Asylkozhaev of Russia by 6-1,6-2 while in Girl’s Singles Lia Belibova (Moldova) beat Polina Kaibekova (RUS) 6-4,6-4.

Senator Salim Saifullah Khan President-PTF was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Humayun Saifullah Khan Former Provincial Minister KP and a large number of participants and tennis lovers also witnessed the final.

President-PTF, said the conduct of such events in Pakistan and participation of foreign players would further promote the soft image of Pakistan besides providing an opportunity for Pakistani players to compete with quality players. He also showed satisfaction with the overall arrangements which are in place for the conduct of the event.

He thanked the Islamabad Police for providing with foolproof security for the event, and media for highlighting the event comprehensively. He

The President-PTF also thanked Arif Qureshi ITF White Badge Referee for supervising the event in a highly professional manner.

Meanwhile, the ITF Pakistan J7 World Juniors Tennis Championships leg-2 commenced Saturday here at PTF Tennis Complex.

In Boys Singles Qualifying Round-1, Ada Guler (TUR) bt Syed Raahim Veqar(PAK) 6-2,6-2; Mahatir Muhammad (PAK) bt Pudit Phapatsirikul(THA) 6-2m6-2; Kivanc Bedir (TUR) bt M.Talha Khan(PAK) 6-1,6-0; Thanathip Poti(THA) bt Muhammad Salar(PAK) 6-3,4-6(10-5); Gehash Tissera (SRI) bt Hyugo Sawada(JPN) 6-3,6-1.

In Boys Singles Qualifying Round-2, Yahya Musa Luni(PAK) bt Hisham Mahmood(PAK) 7-6(1),6-2; Akaash De Silva (SRI) bt Hamza Rehmat(PAK) 6-1,6-1; Azat Sarsembaev(KAZ) bt Zaeem Ghafoor(PAK) 6-0,6-0; Ada Guler (TUR) bt Ibrahim Sohail (PAK) 6-0,6-1; Mikhail Svanidze (GEO) bt Mahatir Muhammad Kham(PAK) 7-6(4),6-1; Abdul Baasith Cader (SRI) bt Thanathip Poti(THA)7-6(3),6-3; Kivanc Bedir (TUR) bt Jonathan Hii(AUS) 6-0,6-0; Gehash Tissera (SRI) bt Mustansir Ali Khan(PAK) 6-0,6-2. The Third Round of the qualifying matches would start on Sunday.
