The shabby bridge on Kech Kor in Turbat connects many areas, like Panjgur and Quetta. Since the heavy monsoon earlier this year, potholes have become the main feature of the bridge, creating troubles for the commuters and leading to accidents.
The Turbat-Quetta bridge is used by locals as well as students who commute daily to reach academic institutions located on the city’s outskirts.
Regrettably, the number of accidents has increased due to high volume of traffic and hindrances in the way of smooth flow. Two students recently lost their lives when their bike collided with a vehicle.
While the district administration says it has taken notice of the dilapidated condition of the bridge, no progress can be seen so far. The commuters, including teachers and students, get late in reaching their respective destinations.
The situation, if not addressed urgently, will add to the misery of local people. The authorities concerned should repair this important bridge to prevent road accidents, and to facilitate life to the extent they can.
