PTI reacts strongly over transfer of Senator Swati to Quetta

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership termed the transfer of incarcerated ailing PTI Senator Azam Swati to Quetta by Balochistan police with the connivance of the imported government as condemnable and shameful.

In their strong reactions here on Friday, they expressed shock over the tragic development as his life was in great danger due to his medical complications, as the police even could not wait for his medical reports.

The PTI Chairman Imran Khan stated that the vengeful manner in which Senator Swati was being treated was shocking and condemnable. Imran Khan said that he was moved to PIMS early morning after suffering severe chest pains and breathing issues. However, he said that Azam Swati was sent to Quetta without getting the test results. Imran Khan stated that Quetta police got him discharged and took him away endangering his life and added that freedom of opinion was being considered as a crime.

Imran Khan stated: “Equally outrageous is what is being considered such a great crime would in entire civilised world be considered his democratic right to criticise.” PTI Chairman demanded that Azam Swati must be released immediately. “Sad to see our justice system unwilling to stop repeated violations of Swati’s basic human rights,” he added.

Strongly reacting to the development of Swati’s transfer to Quetta, PTI Central Secretary General Asad Umar said that Swati was “handed over” to Balochistan police and taken to Quetta without waiting for medical reports from the hospital or waiting for the high court’s decision.

“Shameful how the imported government is flouting fundamental rights and refusing to follow due process of law,” he added.

PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhary stated in his reaction that the transfer of Azam Swati to Quetta was another spot on the human rights record of Pakistan’s courts, as the 75-year-old senator and lawyer was being disrespected and the courts were taking the lead in further tarnishing Pakistan’s history. “Who knows when the judges will realize that Allah has blessed them with important responsibilities,” he raised question.

In her strong reaction, PTI Senior Vice President Dr. Shireen Mazari said: “There seems to be a personalised vendetta being carried out against Senator Swati simply because he critically named now retired COAS in a tweet and in his speech at our Pindi March.”

She said that his re-arrest, over 20 FIRs across Pakistan on one charge and his being taken from cardiovascular department of PIMS goes against all norms not only of democracy but of humanity.”

Dr. Shireen Mazari stated: “It also goes against SC judgment on FIRs and safeguard of Human Dignity in Constitution. When he is whisked away from Nur Khan base then questions arise as to who is being so petulantly vindictive and to what end.”

PTI Central Deputy Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan said that Senator Azam Swati was taken to hospital late last night due to chest pains. However. Omar said that he was taken to Quetta early in the morning on the instructions of this corrupt imported government.

“His life is in danger due to medical complications and a planned attempt on his life.” He requested that judiciary to please wake up.
