Funeral prayers were offered on Wednesday for two martyred officers of the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), a day after they were gunned down in a targeted attack in Khanewal district.
Funeral prayers for CTD Director Naveed Sadiq Sial and Inspector Nasir Abbas were offered in Multan, Khanewal, and Lahore, and was attended by civil and military officials as well as family members.
The two CTD officers, Grade 19 officer Naveed Sadiq Sial and Inspector Nasir Abbas, were shot dead by an unidentified assailant in the parking space of a hotel near Pirowal on Tuesday.
The suspect reportedly had tea with the two officers at the hotel before he shot them down with a concealed weapon and fled the scene.
Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has sought a report from the Punjab IG.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the attack on CTD officers was condemnable, also seeking reports from the IG as well as the chief secretary.
