IHC cancels hearing of appeal against Khan’s acquittal

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has cancelled its cause-list for hearing of Federation’s appeal against acquittal of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Parliament attack case.

A two-judge IHC bench consisting of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan was due to hear the Federation’s appeal filed through advocate general Islamabad.

The TLTP learnt that in its appeal, the Federal prayed the court to declare null and void acquittal of Imran Khan, Pervaiz Khattak and others in the case as the anti-terrorism court’s verdict was a negation of the law.

The Federation further said that there were enough documentary evidence and videos of Imran Khan committing the crime.

The Federation’s appeal stated that the court had ignored the accounts of eyewitnesses while allowing Imran Khan to go free. Even the public prosecutor went against the law and supported Imran Khan’s acquittal, the appeal added.

The ATC had pronounced its verdict of acquitting Imran Khan on 29 October 2020.
