CM’s PA dissolution advice challenged in LHC

LAHORE: The decision of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to dissolve the provincial assembly has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The applicant, Salman Cheema, prayed the court to declare null and void the advice forwarded by the chief minister to the governor for assembly’s dissolution as it was sent by Pervaiz Elahi under pressure from PTI.

The TLTP learnt that the LHC Registrar Office, however, raised an objection to the application, ruling that the applicant is not an affected party and that there was no attested copy of the CM’s summary attached to the application.

LHC’s Justice Shahid Karim upheld the Registrar Office’s objection of incomplete documents. The lawyer for the applicant said they will refile the application.
