4,200 policemen guard LG polls in Badin today

BADIN: The Sindh Police will deploy 4,200 police personnel and officers for Local Government Elections 2023 being held in Badin district like other parts of the Sindh on Sunday (today).

According to details, a total of 936051 registered voters in Badin district including 507,329 men and 428722 women will cast their votes in favour of their candidates during the LG elections 2023. There are 1,980 candidates vying for 63 seats of district Council, 10 town committees seats and two municipal committees seats. It is to be noted that as many as 47 candidates of different political parties have already been elected unopposed on different slots while four candidates have passed away due to which elections have been postponed in these areas.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, as many as 656 polling stations have been set up for polling during the LG elections in all the five talukas of the district. Out of these polling stations, 138 have been declared as most sensitive. Similarly, there are about 2,291 polling including 1,197 for men & 1,094 for women established for smooth voting. Whereas, the ECP has deployed a total 695 presiding officers, 4,585 Assistant presiding officers, and 2291 other polling staff for the conduct of the local bodies elections.

The Sindh police have chalked out a comprehensive plan for foolproof security during polling. The police have warned that the troublemakers would be dealt with sternly and nobody would be allowed to hamper smooth conduct of the LG lections in any way.
