COLOMBO: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickramasinghe on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to further the close and friendly relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar called on President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickramasinghe here and discussed matters related to bilateral cooperation.
She congratulated him on the 75th Independence Day of Sri Lanka. The two dignitaries expressed satisfaction over close, cooperative relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

They recalled the shared Buddhist heritage and people-to-people links between the two countries. They agreed to further enhance mutually beneficial cooperation in economy and trade, education, tourism and people-to-people contacts.
MoS Khar, Sri Lankan FM reaffirm to further strengthen bilateral ties
On the other hand, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ms Hina Rabbani Khar who is on two-day official visit to Sri Lanka held meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries with him.
The State Minister congratulated Foreign Minister Sabry on Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Sri Lanka’s independence. The two Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to close friendly relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The state minister and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister discussed the whole range of bilateral relations, and agreed to enhance multidimensional bilateral cooperation in political, economic and commercial, defence and education domains. Hina Rabbani and Ali Sabry agreed to continue cooperation at various international forums, including the United Nations and SAARC.

The two foreign ministers also agreed to continue cooperation at various international forums, including the United Nations and the South Asian Association for the Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

75th Independence Day Celebrations of Sri Lanka
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar Saturday concluded the two day to Sri Lanka on Saturday undertaken at the invitation of the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister to participate as a special guest on the 75th Independence Day celebrations that included a cultural event and Independence Day ceremony.
In Colombo, the Minister of State also held bilateral meetings with the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, and the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Shunsuke Takei and discussed areas of bilateral cooperation and understanding.
