Gwadar to soon get 100MW from Iran as NTDC completes transmission line

ISLAMABAD: The Gwadar region will soon get 100 megawatt power from Iran as National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has completed the transmission line.

The NTDC in line with the directives of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister Energy Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan has completed the 29 kilometer long, double-circuit from Polan to Gwadar.

Consequently, Pakistan’s transmission system in the region will become capable to import additional 100 MW from Iran. Testing of circuit-II of the said transmission line was completed the other day, whereas testing of circuit-I will be carried out on February 07, 2023.

Evacuation of additional 100 MW power will be started through this transmission line in the next few days. This import of additional power from Iran will be beneficial for the people of Gwadar & Makran division in terms of power adequacy, reduction in load shedding and will increase the confidence of the key business players and investors to tap the opportunities provided by the Gwadar region for their potential businesses.
