Nine militants arrested from across Punjab: CTD

LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab Saturday conducted a successful intelligence operation, arresting nine militants affiliated with various proscribed organisations across multiple districts in the province.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the arrested individuals, who include Afan, Kassif, Jawad Saeed, Saqib Ilyas, Sabz Ali, Daud Shah, and Ahmad Jan, belong to both the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and various factions of Islamic State, or Daesh.

The spokesperson reported that the CTD had recovered a significant amount of dangerous materials, including suicide jackets, explosive devices, hand grenades, detonators, remote-controlled devices, and literature on sensitive subjects during the operation.

During the investigation, information was obtained through the interrogation of 26 other suspected individuals, leading to successful arrests.

This week, the Punjab CTD conducted 564 combing operations and arrested 93 suspects, demonstrating the department’s commitment to bring anti-state elements to justice. The spokesperson stated that the CTD will spare no effort in this endeavour.
