ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police are taking strict measures to ensure the safety of public service vehicles traveling on motorways. In light of a recent accident that caused fatalities and injuries, fitness certificates are now mandatory for all public service vehicles.
According to an official of the National Highways and Motorway Police, the decision to make fitness certificates mandatory was taken after a bus collision that resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries due to brake failure.
To enforce this decision, checkpoints have been set up along the motorway, and drivers without necessary documentation are being asked to provide proof of maintenance before being allowed to travel on the motorway.
The police’s efforts are intended to prevent road traffic accidents from occurring again, and they will strictly enforce compliance with fitness standards for public service vehicles. The checks will ensure that brakes, tires, and other critical components are in good working order.
The official has urged drivers of public service vehicles to cooperate with their efforts to ensure road safety and report any issues regarding their vehicle’s fitness. He has also assured the public that the police will continue to monitor the situation closely and take all necessary measures to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.
