Dar, Ambassador of Turkiye discuss strengthening bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday reiterated that people and government of Pakistan were ready to extend further relief and support to Turkiye in wake of deadly earthquake and highlighted the future potential areas for strengthening relations, especially on business and investment front.

“Both Pakistan and Turkiye are bound by unflinching bond of brotherhood and maximum facilities will be provided to Turkish investors to explore the untapped potential here,” Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar was talking to Ambassador of Republic of Turkiye to Pakistan Dr Mehmet Pacaci who Saturday called on him here n Saturday.

Minister Dar and the Tukiye ambassador discussed future potential areas for strengthening relations especially on business and investment fronts between the two countries.

SAPM for Finance Tariq Bajwa, Special Secretary Finance, Nurettin Demir, Turkish Commercial Counsellor, Ali Battal Country Manager Turkish Airline, Farhan Akram, CFO Dawlance and senior officers from Finance Division and FBR attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the finance minister expressed sympathies over loss of human and property in the deadly earthquake in Turkiye.

He said that government and people of Pakistan were saddened at the loss of precious lives and property in the devastating earthquake and stand with the people of Turkiye in this difficult time. He further said that Government of Pakistan is ready to further extend relief support to Turkiye.

Speaking on the occasion, the Turkiye Ambassador expressed gratitude for providing immediate relief support and necessary to Turkish brethren in its difficult time.

The Turkish Ambassador shared that the Republic of Turkiye has strong bilateral ties with Pakistan and apprised the finance minister of certain issues related to Turkish companies operating in Pakistan.

The two sides further exchanged views on the long-standing religious, cultural, political, economic and social ties between Pakistan and Turkiye. The economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries was also discussed in the meeting.

Dr Mehmet Pacaci thanked the Finance Minister for support and cooperation.

Earlier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting on Hajj Policy-2023 which was attended by Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, Special Secretary of Finance and senior officers from Finance and Religious Affairs ministries were among the attendees.

On the occasion, the minister vowed to extend maximum support and cooperation to facilitate the hajj pilgrims in fulfilling their religious obligation.

The meeting was apprised of the Hajj-2023 policy. It was informed that more than 179,000 Pakistanis were expected to perform Hajj this year.

Religious Affairs minister informed the finance minister about certain issues related to foreign exchange and sought his support.

“Hajj is a sacred religious obligation to be performed by every Muslim and we have to contribute our part for the blessings of Almighty Allah,” said Dar.

The minister committed to extending maximum support and cooperation in facilitating the Hajjis to make the religious event successful. Minister for Religious Affairs thanked the finance minister for cooperation and support.
