Balochistan CM okays Rs100m to resume ration supply to prisoners

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has approved funds to the tune of Rs100 million to ensure provision of ration to the prisoners in prisons across the province.

According a spokesperson for the Balochistan government on Saturday, the contractors providing ration to prisoners in prisons had stopped the supply to most of the jails due to non-payment of dues worth Rs160 million for the last two years.

He informed a summary of Rs106.8 million was sent to the Balochistan Chief Minister, which has been approved.

After the approval of the funds, IG Prison Balochistan Shujauddin Kasi held talks with the contractors of the prison department who agreed to resume the supply of ration to the prisoners.

According to the jail authorities, a separate summary will also be sent to the Chief Minister by the Home Department for the payment of last year’s dues worth Rs60 million.
