ISLAMABAD: Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUST) Head of Department Physics Dr. Zubair Khan Niazi who also found guilty by the harassment committee of the University in the matter of texting indecent messages and harassing a female student again reinstated as HOD Physics.
It was learnt that University harassment committee had earlier strongly recommended that Dr. Zubair Khan Niazi should immediately remove as HOD Physics, after that he was sacked on 6th February 2023, but the alarming matter took dramatic turn and he (Dr. Zubair Khan Niazi) again reinstated as HOD Physics on 13 March 2023.
It was worth mentioned here that the FUUST administration on Thursday sacked a professor Zahid Sarfaraz after finding him guilty of texting indecent messages and harassing a female student. The girl student shared her ordeal with three of her professors including Dr. Zubair Khan Niazi and Dr Imran but surprisingly all of them advised her to keep mum over the matter, saying that the issue would affect her education and will bring disgrace to her family.
Disappointed with her professor, the student filed an application with the university administration in this regard. Following a one-and-half months probe, the anti-harassment committee found the allegations levelled by the female student true. In its report, the committee recommended removing the head of the physics department.In line with the recommendations of the committee, the university dismissed the professor from service and ordered the assessment of the next papers of the student from an impartial forum.
According to details, the head of the Physics Department Dr. Zubair Khan Niazi at FUUST in Islamabad had threatened a female student that he would fail her if she did not fulfil his demand.
The professor failed her by one mark when the student refused to accept his demand. After this whole ugly episode the University committee sacked the professor after proven guilty.
Now the alarming matter took dramatic change as the alleged guilty professor Zubair Khan Niazi again reinstated as HOD Physics.
The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUST) administration on Thursday sacked a professor after finding him guilty of texting indecent messages and harassing a female student.
However, the spokesperson of Federal Urdu University Islamabad campus told the media that this incident came to light in December after which the university administration took immediate action on it. An inquiry committee was formed, the guilty professor was a contract employee, in the report of the inquiry committee he was found guilty of harassment, on which the committee instructed to expel Professor Zahid Sarfraz from the university. Then he was expelled from the University. On the other hand the application given by the student to the administration, complaints have been made against the said Professor Zahid Sarfraz for sending inappropriate messages to her on WhatsApp and demanding a separate meeting, while the student took a further stand in the application.
