KP minister visits family of slain Sikh man, vows to protect community

PESHAWAR: Feroze Jamal Shah, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s caretaker minister for information and minority affairs, visited the residence of the slain Dayal Singh, who was shot dead in Peshawar a day earlier, on Saturday to offer his condolences to the family.

The minister also met with the relatives and elders of the Sikh community in Peshawar’s Dir Colony and expressed his condolences to them as well. He reassured them that the person responsible for Singh’s killing would be brought to justice and that the police were conducting a search operation to apprehend the culprit.

Shah also promised that concrete measures would be taken to protect the minority community’s members, and that necessary action had been taken to arrest the elements involved in the murder.

He condemned the incident and vowed to provide all kinds of assistance from the caretaker chief minister and the provincial government.

The minister said the killers would soon be brought to justice and that the interim government would provide Rs0.5 million to the next of kin immediately. He added the provincial government shared the grief of the bereaved family.
