ICP serves notice on Secretary Railway on citizen complaint

ISLAMABAD: The Information Commission of Pakistan (ICP) on Thursday has issued notice to the Secretary Railway to give answer for not providing information to the citizen.

According to the detail, The Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui and commission member Ejaz Hasan Awan heard the petition filed by a citizen Muhammad Owais for not receiving information from the Rail Cop Company of Pakistan Railway. The Citizen Muhammad Owais appeared physically in the hearing. The Commission in the last hearing directed the Pakistan Railway to provide relevant information to the citizen.

The Commission giving its opinion said under the law, Pakistan Railways is bound to provide this relevant information, but the Pakistan Railways failed in providing information today in the hearing.

The Commission expressed its serious concerned on not appearing of any official of Pakistan Railways in today proceedings. In the last hearing the Commission observed that Pakistan Railways presented irrelevant information before the Commission.

Today The Commission issued a notice to the Federal Secretary Pakistan Railways to submit his response in the next hearing and provide the relevant information to the citizen. It should be remembered that the citizen has asked for the details of the employees of the Pakistan Railway Company Rail Cop for the last three years, and whether the company earned profit or showed loss, whether the track machines were being used or not, the details of the damaged machines.

The commission in its notice has directed the Rail Cop Company of Pakistan Railways to make sure ensure its attendance in next hearing for provide relevant information to the citizen.
