Police arrest three in minister’s death case

ISLAMABAD: An application was submitted on Sunday to the Secretariat police station to register a case related to the death of Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor who died in a road accident in Islamabad the night before.

JUI leader Qudratullah submitted the application, saying that Shakoor had visited his house for Iftar on Saturday and left at 8:00 pm. He learned of Shakoor’s death in an accident at 10:00 pm.

Qudratullah requested that the police investigate the death, stating that it was a sensitive matter.

The police have arrested the driver of the vehicle that crashed into Maulana Shakoor’s vehicle, along with two other suspects. The Islamabad police chief and the chief commissioner have visited the accident site.

The post-mortem report revealed that Shakoor suffered severe head injuries, with several fractures in his bones and blood coming out from his mouth and nose, leading to his death.

Shakoor’s body has been transported to Lakki Marwat, and from there it will be taken to his native village, Tajbi Khel, where funeral prayers were held at 2:00 pm, followed by his burial.
