Sindh, K-P announce Eid holidays in line with Centre’s decision

KARACHI: Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial governments Monday also notified the holidays for Eidul Fitr in line with the federal government.

According to the notifications issued by both provincial governments, the provinces will observe the Eid holidays from April 21 to April 25 (Friday to Tuesday). The federal and Punjab government have already notified the holidays for the same dates.

The federal government has approved five-day Eid holidays from April 21 to April 25 on the recommendation of the Cabinet Division. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet on April 20 for the sighting of the Eid ul Fitr crescent moon.

Eid al-Fitr is the first of two canonical festivals of Islam. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar (though the Muslim use of a lunar calendar means that it may fall in any season of the year).
