Balochistan, Sindh govt grants special remission to prisoners

ISLAMABAD: Balochistan and Sindh governments have granted special remission to all convicted prisoners, languishing in prisons of the provinces for two months and four months respectively.

Radio Pakistan reported on Friday that the Government of Balochistan has announced sixty days special remission to all convicted prisoners confined in Jails and judicial lockups in the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. According to a notification of the Home and Tribal affairs Department, the special remission would not be imposed on the prisoners who are involved in anti-state, terrorism activities and other heinous crimes.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has granted special remission to all convicted prisoners languishing in Prisons of the province on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr for four months. According to notification of Home Department, special remission will not be given to the convicted of murder, espionage, subversion, anti-state and terrorist activities and those undergoing sentences under the Foreigners Act 1946.
