Earthquake of magnitude 5.7 jolts parts of Capital, KP

ISLAMABAD: Earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on Richter scale jolted the federal capital Islamabad and various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday but no causalities or property damages were reported from anywhere.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), tremours measuring 5.7 on Richter scale were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Hangu, Kohat, Swat, Lower Dir, Kurram, Swabi and surroundings.

People of the area where quake was felt rushed out of their homes and buildings in panic reciting verses from Holy Quran.

However, no loss of life, injuries and property damages were reported from any of the areas where quake was felt.

The epi-centre of the quake was stated to in Koh Hindu Kush in Afghanistan at the depth of 187 kilometer inside earth crust.
