ISLAMABAD: The ruling party Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz has hired young professionals to counter PTI’s hegemony on social media platforms.
Highly placed sources told this scribe that the social media platforms have emerged as the new battleground as mainstream political parties of Pakistan are now at sea as to how to combat PTI’s dominance in the digital space.
“The PML-N has so far hired 20 young professionals having vast experience of digital and communication transformation in the corporate sector in the last three to four months on the instructions of the party Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz to rattle the absolute hegemony of PTI in the digital space,” the sources said.
“Maryam Nawaz wanted to re-energize the party’s social media to counter PTI and one official on the condition of anonymity told that MN’s decision to re-energize the party’s social media is yielding unbelievable results for the party in a very short period of time,” the sources added.
“The PML-N is focusing a lot more on the content development to expose its political arch riyals adding that officials said that the social media team is sharing a large variety of content to party leaders, official handles, social media activists and even volunteers,” the sources said.
Officials claim that the content development strategy is immensely helping the PML-N win the narrative war on social media.
“The strategy for the coming months is to keep developing a diverse and targeted set of digital communications to target different voter segments at the same time besides improving and increasing the number of social media activists and volunteers,” officials added.
The political opponents of PTI claim that Imran Khan’ party has invested heavily into creating ‘troll armies’ for pushing their narrative whereas the party on its website mentioned that the PTI Social Media Team strives to propagate PTI’s Manifesto and values on Social Media.
A team of 150 plus volunteers from all over the World update the party’s official social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) 24 hours a day, they added.
