President seeks awareness of ombudsman role in resolving insurance plaints

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has called on the Federal Insurance Ombudsman to ensure swift justice for people seeking a resolution to insurance-related matters.

This came as Muhammad Khawar Jameel, the Federal Insurance Ombudsman, presented the president with the institution’s annual report for 2022, highlighting its performance.

The president emphasized the importance of creating awareness about the Ombudsman’s role in resolving complaints related to insurance and urged people to approach their office for the resolution of any such complaints.

According to the report, the Federal Insurance Ombudsman managed to dispose of 4,634 complaints in 2022, which provided relief worth Rs2.5 billion to the policyholders. The report also revealed that around 95 percent of the insurance cases were resolved within 60 days.

The Ombudsman has recently opened new offices in Sukkur and Hyderabad to provide justice to people at their doorstep.
