PTI leader Zartaj Gul, Mahmood-ur-Rasheed booked on terrorism charges in DG Khan

ISLAMABAD: A complaint has been filed by the police under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against 55 PTI demonstrators, 25 of whom were nominated. These individuals include former federal minister Zartaj Gul, according to a report on Sunday.

Former federal minister Zartaj Gul, former health adviser Hanif Patafi, Malik Iqbal Saqib, and others have been booked by Gaddai police on charges of disturbing the peace, obstructing traffic, yelling anti-government and anti-army chants, assaulting police officers, and other unlawful behavior. The police are conducting raids to detain PTI leaders and workers.

According to the FIR filed in response to Sub-Inspector Imtiaz Alam’s complaint at the Gaddai police station, he was at Pul Dot with a police team when Zartaj Gul, Hanif Patafi, Malik Iqbal Saqib, Ruqiya Ramzan, 25 nominated protesters, and 30 unidentified protesters blocked the Dera-Quetta road and the interprovincial Indus Highway.

According to the report, the “miscreants” allegedly shouted insults against the Pakistan Army and the government, and encouraged motorists to vandalize public and private vehicles as well as other assets.

The demonstrators were informed that Section 144 had been implemented by the Punjab government, according to the FIR, but they disregarded the police’s advice, broke the law, assaulted the officers, and blocked the road.

Meanwhile, the Lahore police arrested another key PTI leader during ongoing crack down. A Crimes Investigation Agency (CIA) police Iqbal Town team took Mian Rasheed into custody from a locality in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

The PTI leader remained the provincial minister in the tenure of Sardar Usman Bozdar as the Punjab chief minister. Major key leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Chaudhy Fawad Hussian, Omer Sarfraz Cheema, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Musarrat Cheema and others. In another action, another police team also detained Faisal Mehar, the secretary of PTI leader Hammad Azhar, from his Sabzazar residence at the crack of dawn.
