ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced that funeral prayers in absentia would be offered for the martyrs of May 9 peaceful protests at Zaman Park, Lahore after Maghrib prayers today.
In a special video message, PTI Chairman appealed that the people should gather at Zaman Park, Lahore to offer funeral prayers for the martyrs of May 9 peaceful protests across the country.
Imran Khan said that these people came out of their homes to stage peaceful protests only for their rights but they were directly shot at.
PTI Chairman expressed his shock that many people sustained serious injuries and were in hospitalized in critical condition.
He said that it was a pity that the peaceful protestors were directly hit with bullets but no one was ready for investigation into it.
Imran Khan stated that direct firing on their own people like they sprayed the peaceful protestors with bullets were not allowed anywhere in the world.
He said that such brutal treatment meted out with slaves and this was done by General Dyer who opened fire on peaceful protesters.
PTI Chairman reminded that protesters in France lobbed petrol bombs at the police but no shots were fired because it was a free country.
Imran Khan urged that everyone should reach Zaman Park after Maghrib today to offer funeral prayers in absentia for these martyrs who led their lives to hold peaceful protests for reclaiming their constitutional and fundamental rights.
