President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the annual conference of EBRD Board of Managers in Samarkand. In his speech, the head of state touched on priority steps in three directions.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his speech at the EBRD conference in Samarkand, expressed confidence that great results will be achieved this year on the path to membership in the World Trade Organization. The President also said that “reducing bureaucracy and rooting out corruption” will always be in focus.
“First. We will improve the investment and business environment in our country and create more favorable conditions for investors on the basis of a comprehensive system.
In this regard, the Council of Foreign Investors under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be a decisive link in the joint development of mutually beneficial projects and long-term strategies, establishing direct dialogue with foreign investors.
Undoubtedly, this communication platform, established together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, serves to gain new experiences and creates additional opportunities for us, helps to introduce modern approaches in the process of reforms.
Wherever the investors are, they will be provided with the necessary assistance and services through the “single window” established in the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade – in 14 regions, 208 districts and cities, as well as in all diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad.
Also, by the end of the year, in cooperation with international experts, the activities of the International Commercial Court will be established for the first time in our history.
Second. We will vigorously continue the policy of further liberalization of goods, services, capital and labor markets. In particular, we have taken great steps to become a member of the World Trade Organization in order to join the world’s production chains. I believe that we will achieve significant results in this direction this year.
Third. Reducing excessive bureaucracy and rooting out corruption will continue to be the focus of our state and society.
We will consistently continue the administrative reforms started in this regard, and introduce a compact and efficient state management system that will help people and businesses and provide them with quality services,” the President said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to the management of EBRD supporting Uzbekistan, in particular, to the bank president Mrs. Reno-Basso, to the governments and managers of the bank’s member states, to the bank’s partner organizations and investors, and to all bank employees who are implementing projects together with us.
