PESHAWAR: The unflappable Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan Sunday said that he is ready to play anywhere in the world for Pakistan and is trying hard to keep the national flag always high among world cricketing circles.
Talking to media men during the Annual Shama Award Ceremony at Shama Cricket Academy, Muhammad Rizwan said that it does matter where we are playing. The thing that matters to me is giving performance and shouldering responsibility whenever the team needed, he replied.
“I always focus on hard work, ” the cricketer said; “The same I used to tell the youngsters coming in from U13, U16 and U19 levels as there is plenty of talent but such talent needs a proper guideline like we had from our seniors,” he said.
“It is amazing the talent coming in from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and we should see the spirit of our children by providing them proper guidelines so that they could come up and excel at national and international level. The motivation is key to these children,” Muhammad Rizwan said.
“One thing is very much clear that without hard work nothing is possible therefore, I urged the youngsters to do hard work and replace us by serving the national team and our beloved country,” he said.
Answering a question, he said: “We will play wherever PCB says.” “We are fond of cricket, we are not afraid to play as players,” he added. If children are given the best guidelines, they will be the stars of the future.
About another question, he said, fitness is very important for any cricket and my main focus is on my fitness as if I will be fit I will run more and serve my country, he said.
Born on June 1, 1992, Muhammad Rizwan has represented Pakistan in international cricket since 2015 and captains Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans. He is considered as one of the best batsmen in world cricket at the moment.
Rizwan is the only batter to score 2000 runs in a calendar year in T20s. He is a right-handed batter and wicket-keeper and has scored centuries in all three international formats including Tests, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals.
He is the vice-captain of the Pakistan cricket team in Test cricket. He was one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2021. He was also the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2021 and led the Multan Sultans to victory in the Pakistan Super League 2021. Mohammad Rizwan is the leading run-scorer in T20 International in a calendar year with 1326 runs in 26 innings at an average of 73.66.
Earlier, as chief guest in the Shama Annual Award Ceremony, Muhammad Rizwan distributed Award-2023. General Manager Associated Industries Nowshera Zeeshan Hameed, Peshawar Region President Gulzada Khan, Secretary Haroon Khan, Head Coach Fazal Akbar Shah, Peshawar District Cricket Association President Muhammad Asghar accompanied him on this occasion.
Presidents and secretaries of various associations and clubs including Ali Khan, and Secretary Hanif Shah were present in the ceremony. U13 player of Shama Cricket Club, Muhammad Farooq, who had shown the best performance in the PCB Championship and was the top scorer, was also honored. According to the management of Shama Cricket Club, the Annual Awards aim to pay tribute to these players while encouraging new players.
