All knowledge stems from Quran: scholar

GUJRAT: Renowned motivational speaker and Islamic scholar Soban Attari addressing a seminar here at Hafiz Hayat Campus of University of Gujrat (UoG) on Tuesday urged the students to go for creativity and innovation in their academic journey and seek guidance from the Holy Quran – the only perfect source of knowledge and truth, some of which modern science has discovered only recently.

The seminar, titled ‘Islam and Science’, was organized by Hayatyans Science Society and Clubs (HSSC) in collaboration with the Student Services Centre and aimed at familiarizing and helping the students understand the glorious intellectual and scientific contribution of the Muslims who laid the foundation of various science branches.

The seminar was presided over by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar.  HSSC coordinator Dr Zahid Anwar, directors and chairpersons of various departments and other senior academics attended the event as guests of honour.

Soban Attari said that there is no contradiction between Islam and science. The Holy Quran is a book of guidance and wisdom. He stressed the need for today’s Muslims, especially the students, to spend some time for the learning and understanding of the Holy Quran.

“The Holy Prophet (SAW) called upon the Ummah to seek knowledge and discover new scientific truths. Allah (SWT) too invites us in the Holy Quran to contemplate His blessings and various other phenomena,” Soban Attari said.

Dr Mushahid Anwar said that serving humanity by exploring new knowledge is a noble cause.

President HSSC Muhammad Talha thanked the guests and gave a brief introduction of the society.  Faculty member Yasir Jami moderated the proceedings.
