Punjab bans hides collection by non-registered NGOs

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Saturday banned the collection of hides of sacrificial animals by non-registered NGOs this Eidul Azha.

In its directives issued to all deputy commissioners and police, the provincial home department said that only registered NGOs would be allowed to collect hides.

City administrations would not allow anyone to collect hides of sacrificial animals without permission and a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the authorities concerned as per the directives of the Punjab government.

The charity organizations intending to collect the hides of the sacrificial animals have been directed to submit applications to the offices of deputy commissioners for getting permission letter.

The Home Department has banned the collection of the hides without the approval of the competent authority.
