ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Afzal Sahi, who was booked in a case at Golra Sharif police station, had his bail extended by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Sahi appeared before the ATC to address the charges leveled against him. During the hearing, Sahi’s legal team requested interim bail, which was granted by the court.
As a result, his bail has been extended until July 5, providing temporary relief from potential custody.
The court’s decision to extend Sahi’s bail indicates its willingness to give him an opportunity to prepare a strong defense. The specific details of the case have not been disclosed yet, but the involvement of the ATC suggests its significance.
In a separate incident, another party leader Shehryar Afridi, who was released from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Tuesday, was immediately rearrested. He was taken into custody from Islamabad’s Sector F-8 under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
The deputy commissioner of Rawalpindi has said the PTI leader has been placed under house arrest for an additional 15 days. However, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared his preventive arrest as “illegal” and ordered his release.
