IHC extends Qureshi, Asad Umar’s interim bail in Tarnol police station case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders – Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar in the case registered at Tarnol police station till July 13.

IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the case of Shah Mehmood Qureshi. The Islamabad police told the court that Shah Mehmood Qureshi had joined the investigation.

The case of Asad Umar was heard by Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

“Both the cases should be referred to the same bench,” the special prosecutor requested the court.

The court sent the file back to the chief justice.

“The decision to send both the cases to the same bench will be taken by the chief justice,” Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri said.

“Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi are nominated in the same case which is heard in separate courts,” the prosecutor said.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar appeared in the court along with their lawyer.

The sessions court dismissed their bail pleas after which both had approached the IHC.

The IHC had granted both the leaders interim bail during the previous hearing.
