Flash floods claim one life, damage five houses in KP

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that recent flash floods resulted in one fatality in Upper Dir and five houses damaged in Upper Chitral.

Sabz Ali, a 25-year-old resident of Aligasar, Upper Dir, was tragically swept away by the flash flood, and his body was later recovered.

In Upper Chitral’s Yarkhon village, the flash flood caused extensive damage, completely demolishing five houses and partially damaging two others. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.

The floods also impacted ten shops and caused damage to crops, gardens, and forests.

The PDMA issued a warning regarding the Chantar Glacier at Brughal Point, as it dangerously slipped into the Yarkhon River in Chitral, raising concerns about potential downstream floods.
