Punjab CM, Uzbek minister agree to improve cooperation in cotton production

LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Minister Dr Aziz Votov in Tashkent wherein they agreed to promote cooperation in agriculture, especially cotton production.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, on this occasion, Naqvi said on behalf of the Punjab government, “I have brought a message of love, brotherhood and mutual love for the Uzbek government and people.

“Pakistan’s political and military leadership is on the same page for sustainable development of agriculture,” the Punjab CM said.

He said the Punjab government wanted to use the expertise and experience of Uzbekistan to achieve higher production of cotton in the agricultural sector.

The caretaker CM said Uzbekistan was one of the top cotton producing countries in the region and the weather conditions of Uzbekistan were compatible with the weather conditions of Punjab.

“There are wider possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and other fields,” Naqvi stated.

Uzbek Minister of Agriculture Dr Aziz Votov said he would fully cooperate with the Punjab government in the agricultural sector, especially in the production of cotton. The friendly relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan are rooted in cultural, religious and historical ties.
