Two cops injured in grenade attack on Quetta checkpost

QUETTA: Two policemen were injured in a grenade attack on a security checkpost in Quetta, police confirmed on Wednesday.

According to police officials, the attack took place in Kechi Beg area on Saryab Road wherein unknown suspects hurled a grenade at the checkpost, injuring two policemen. The injured policemen were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Security forces rushed to the area after the attack, but the suspects had fled the scene by the time they arrived. A search operation is underway to arrest the fleeing criminals.

The attack comes amid a recent upsurge in violence in Balochistan. In June, a suicide bomber killed four people, including three policemen, in a blast near a security forces’ checkpost in Turbat district of Balochistan.

The Balochistan government has condemned the attack and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
