ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Sayed Zulfi Bukhari has accused the outgoing PDM government of illegally detaining his brother Khawar Bukhari in a fake FIR.
“Khawar Bukhari was recently released on bail after spending two months in jail, but was arrested again”, he claimed in a statement on Thursday.
Zulfi Bukhari said that his brother had nothing to do with politics and that his one son was a special child. He added that there were reports that the government was planning to detain Khawar Bukhari under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) today as well.
Zulfi Bukhari said that Pakistan was currently ruled by a mafia instead of the constitution and law. He accused the government and police of setting a bad example of fascism and said that they knew which officers were involved in the illegal detention of his brother.
Zulfi Bukhari also said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s entire legal team was being summoned and harassed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). He said that even the most senior lawyer, Khwaja Harris, had been summoned and that earlier lawyer Naeem Panjuthaa had been detained for eight hours.
Zulfi Bukhari said that these tactics were being used to ensure that there was no one left from the legal fraternity to represent Imran Khan. He said that the government’s actions were “politically motivated” and that they were an attempt to silence the opposition. The government has not yet commented on the allegations made by Zulfi Bukhari.
