PESHAWAR: The federal government will provide more than 30 billion rupees for the transition of agricultural tube wells to solar energy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The project, which is also approved by the Provincial Development Working Party, is part of the federal government’s efforts to reduce electricity consumption and ensure water availability for agriculture.
Under the project, agricultural tube wells across the country will be shifted to solar energy. This will not only reduce electricity consumption, but it will also ensure water availability for agriculture, particularly during power shortages.
The federal government has allocated 30.90 billion rupees for KP in this project. The implementation of the project will be carried out by the provincial Department of Agriculture. The Department of Agriculture will prepare the project’s PC-1 and present it to the Provincial Development Working Party. Work on the project is set to commence in the current year.
The project is expected to benefit thousands of farmers in KP. It will help to reduce their electricity bills and ensure that they have access to water for irrigation, even during power outages. The project is also expected to create jobs in the solar energy sector.
