CTD arrests 21 terrorists in IBOs across Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department on Saturday claimed to have arrested 21 terrorists including four key commanders during intelligence-based operation (IBOs) carried out in different cities of the province including Lahore.

According to the CTD, the officials recovered explosive material, detonators, IED bombs and hand grenades from the possession of the arrested terrorists.

The CTD officials disclosed identity of some of the terrorists including: Shahid, Amin, Gul Rehman, Azad, Ishaq, Ijaz, Javed, Mudassar, Iqbal, Isa, Shahbaz, and Saif.

According to the CTD, cases were registered against the outlaws and interrogation was underway.

It may be noted that during current week, as many as 700 combing operations were conducted and 49 suspicious persons were arrested, the CTD informed adding that 29,829 persons were interrogated.

Two dacoits killed in Wazirabad shootout

Two accused involved in a triple murder case were gunned down in an alleged police encounter in Palkhu Nullah area in Wazirabad on Saturday.

According to police, the accomplices of the murder accused opened fire on the police party which was taking the accused with them. Police also retaliated and exchanged fire with the outlaws. As a result, the two accused in their custody fell prey to bullets and died on the spot.

The slain accused identified as Adnan and Zeeshan Masih belonged to Lahore. A few days ago, they looted Rs6.3 million and killed three people during a robbery.

Police said the bodies of the accused were sent to THQ Hospital.
