PTI strongly condemns ‘ill-treatment, political victimisation’ of Imran Khan

— Appeals SC to take immediate notice of denying Khan entitled facilities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) core committee strongly condemned the “brutal treatment and political victimization” of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, demanding the Supreme Court (SC) to take immediate notice of non-provision of fundamental and constitutional facilities as a former prime minister.

The PTI Core Committee in its meeting held here on Tuesday expressed serious concerns about the ill-treatment being meted out with the former prime minister and leader of the Ummah, says an official statement.

They revealed that the PTI Chairman was being kept in the worst form in solitary confinement and even his lawyers and personal physician were being given access to him, which were condemnable and sheer violations of his constitutional and fundamental rights as well as the court’s decisions.

The participants expressed anguish that after being jailed as a result of a controversial court decision, unnecessary obstacles were being created in the meetings of lawyers and family members.

The PTI core committee said that the laws and rights were being flouted to target Chairman Imran Khan of the worst political revenge, adding that a dark history of brutality was being created in the country to keep him in solitary confinement after being put in jail through a most contentious court trial.

They stated that all attempts were being made to break the morale of Chairman PTI by depriving him of very basic facilities in the light of the prison manual and being subjected to such ill-treatment.

The participants went on to say that no person including jail staff was allowed to come near their cell or talk to him. They said that the unjust delay in the hearing of his bail application after conducting speedy trial to put him in the jail was the worst example of oppression and fascism.

They demanded that the SC should take notice of the brutal violation of the fundamental and constitutional rights of the national hero and the former prime minister.

The PTI Core Committee demanded that the chairman of the country’s largest party and the nation’s most popular leader should be provided all legal and constitutional rights he was entitled to as a former prime minister of the country without any further delay.
