PCG recovers drugs worth $24.83m dumped underground

KARACHI/PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) seized a large quantity of drugs worth millions from Balochistan while the Airport Security Force (ASF) foiled separate bids to smuggle drugs to Doha and arrested three passengers at Islamabad, Multan and Peshawar airports on Sunday.

According to spokesman for PCG on Sunday, the PCG on a tip off recovered 1,488kg fine quality hashish dumped underground.  The seized drugs were reportedly to be smuggled abroad via sea route.

The PCG spokesperson claimed that approximated value of the recovered drugs in the international market was $24.83 million dollars. The PCG has initiated further legal proceedings.

4.71kg Ice drug seized at at Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar airports

On the other hand, the Airport Security Force (ASF) foiled separate bids to smuggle drugs to Doha and arrested three passengers at Islamabad, Multan and Peshawar airports on Sunday.

According to the ASF spokesperson, a passenger leaving from Doha from Multan airport was held after recovery of 1.170 kilogram methamphetamine (Ice), a passenger leaving for Doha from Islamabad airport was held with 810 gram Ice while a passenger leaving from Doha from Peshawar airport was held after recovery of 2.73 kilogram Ice.

The detainees after preliminary investigation were handed over to Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) along with recovered drugs for further investigations, the spokesman added.
