ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to boost Pakistan’s global trade connections, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, the Federal Minister for Commerce & Industries, has announced a compelling plan to establish Business Parks in major cities across the nation.
Dr. Ejaz, during a recent meeting in his Islamabad office, engaged in discussions with prominent exporters and traders, including industry leaders such as Fawad Mukhtar, CEO of Fatima Fertiliser; Anwaar Ahmad Ghani, CEO of Ghani Glass Ltd; Mian M Ahsan of US apparel and denim; Shahid Soorti, CEO of Soorti Textile; Fawad Javed of Din Textile; and Faisal Afridi of Haier Appliances. The focus of the meeting was to explore strategies for enhancing Pakistan’s trade relations and economic growth.
Emphasizing the need to tap into every avenue to realize Pakistan’s export potential, Minister Gohar Ejaz underscored the crucial role that Business Parks could play in advancing the nation’s economic prosperity on the global stage. These proposed Business Parks are envisioned as facilitation centers for foreign traders, aiming to strengthen trade relationships and stimulate economic development.
In alignment with immediate solutions, the discussion delved into options such as establishing buying houses and utilizing rental properties managed by the local business community. These pragmatic measures are aimed at addressing the urgent requirements for providing support to foreign traders within Pakistan.
The minister also advocated for a targeted approach, proposing the identification of specific countries based on their industry sectors. This approach, he believes, would optimize Pakistan’s export efforts and lead to stronger global trade ties.
Assuring the business community of steadfast government support, Minister Ejaz pledged to address concerns and challenges faced by entrepreneurs. He directed relevant authorities to provide comprehensive assistance through the ministry’s Trade and Investment Officers stationed in various international missions.
During the meeting, the importance of establishing efficient banking channels for seamless trade, particularly with Central Asian countries, was highlighted. This aligns with the government’s commitment to cultivating robust economic connections with nations in that region, further expanding Pakistan’s trade horizons.
As momentum builds behind the proposal to establish Business Parks, Dr. Gohar Ejaz’s strategic initiative is poised to reshape Pakistan’s trade landscape. With the backing of the business community and strategic government measures, this ambitious endeavor holds the potential to fortify the nation’s economic capabilities and enhance its stature in global trade.
