Pakistan reclaims No. 1 spot in ICC ODI rankings

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has moved to the top spot in the ICC men’s ODI rankings after whitewashing Afghanistan in a three-match series in Sri Lanka.

Prior to the series, Pakistan was in second place with 116 points, just two points behind Australia. However, with their 3-0 victory, Pakistan has now moved to the top of the rankings with 119 points.

This is Pakistan’s second time at the top of the ODI rankings this year. They first reached the top after winning their first four matches against New Zealand in a five-match series in May. However, they lost the fifth and final match to New Zealand, which allowed Australia to reclaim the top spot.

Pakistan will now take part in the 2023 Asia Cup and their first match in that six-team tournament comes against Nepal in Multan on August 30.

They then take on New Zealand and Australia in official warm-up fixtures for the World Cup, with their first clash at this year’s tournament coming against the Netherlands in Hyderabad on October 6.
