FIA nabs two more suspects involved in money-laundering

RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Commercial Banking Circle Rawalpindi has arrested two suspects involved in Hawala and Hundi crime during a raid at Aara Bazaar Road in Chakwal, informed sources on Wednesday.

The detained accused have been identified as Sajjad Hussain and Muhammad Waleed, possession of whom the raiding team recovered Rs 30.9 million, they said.

According to sources, a team of FIA CBC, following the orders of Deputy Director CBC Islamabad Syed Rizwan Shah, has arrested two suspects in an operation in Chakwal.

The suspects were involved in buying and selling foreign currency without a licence. The FIA team also seized cash, mobile phones and large number of receipts from the possession of the arrested men.

FIA investigators said that the action against two suspects was taken on an information as both were running a larger racket of Hawala/hundi in Rawalpindi.

A case has also been registered against the accused. The DG FIA appreciated the efforts of DD CBC Syed Rizwan Shah and his team for netting two notorious men involved in Hawala and Hundi.
