Syed Ali Gilani remembered on his 2nd martyrdom anniversary

ISLAMABAD: The speakers at a seminar in Islamabad on Friday, remembered the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, on his second martyrdom anniversary.

Syed Ali Gilani breathed his last at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar on September 01 in 2021 where he had been kept under house arrest by the Indian authorities for over a decade.

The seminar was jointly organized by “Friends of Kashmir” and Kashmir Media Service in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission and Youth Council of Pakistan to pay tributes to the veteran leader. Senators, All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Azad Jammu and Kashmir leadership participated in the seminar.

The speakers said that Syed Ali Gilani was an embodiment of honesty, unwavering resoluteness, struggle and vision in the story of the Kashmir freedom movement. They said the veteran leader not only presented the cause of Kashmir with great clarity but also united all the Kashmiris for that noble cause. The life and struggle of this great leader will serve as a beacon light and will continue to guide Kashmir’s future generations, they added.

The speakers said Syed Ali Gilani was the face of Kashmir resistance movement who challenged India’s illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir and spearheaded the struggle for right to self-determination. They said that the veteran leader was a staunch opponent of Indian illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and his stance on the Kashmir dispute invited the wrath of the Indian authorities. They said that Syed Ali Gilani spent more than 13 years in Indian jails and he was first imprisoned in 1962 and was even booked under sedition charges for challenging India’s illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir.

The speakers said the struggle of Shaheed Gilani will be written in golden letters in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue his mission till it reached its logical conclusion.

The speakers included Senator Talha Mehmood, Mushaal Hussain Mullick, Special Assistant to Pakistan Prime Minister; Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, AJK President; Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International, Muhammad Afzal Butt, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ); AJK ministers Shaukat Shah, Malik Zafar and Chaudhry Akhlaq; Nayyar Bukhari, Secretary General PPP; Raja Farooq Haider, former AJK Prime Minister; Jay Salik, former Minister of Pakistan; Nisar Memon, former Minister of Pakistan; Abid Abbasi, President Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists; Yasir Rehman, senior anchor PTV, Muhammad Haroon from KMS; and Abdul Hameed Lone, Vice Chairman Friends of Kashmir International.

Rallies taken out in AJK to pay tributes to Syed Ali Gilani

MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 01 (INP): Mammoth rallies were taken out in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and other areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, to pay tribute to the icon of Kashmir resistance movement, Syed Ali Gilani on his second martyrdom anniversary.

Hurriyat leaders Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Zahid Safi, Nazir Ahmed and others led a rally at Lal Chowk, Upper Adda in Muzaffarabad. Apart from various political, religious and social organizations, a large number of office-bearers of Tehreek Shabab-ul-Muslimeen, students wing and youth participated in the rally.

On the occasion, the speakers paid homage to Syed Ali Gilani for his sacrifices for the freedom movement. They said that Syed Ali Gilani remained steadfast like a rock on the principled and historical stance on the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The speakers said despite all the brutal tactics, India could not succeed in removing Syed Ali Gilani from his position. The veteran leader died in the custody of the Indian police and the Indian soldiers were afraid of his body and due to this fear, he was buried in the darkness of the night with a curfew in the entire territory, they said.

They said that Syed Ali Gilani was a symbol of steadfastness against oppression and tyranny who dedicated his life for the Kashmir freedom struggle.

The participants of the rally raised high-pitched slogans in favour of Syed Ali Gilani and freedom and against India.

Pasban Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir also organized a rally at Burhan Muzaffar Wani Shaheed Chowk in Muzaffarabad to remember Syed Ali Gilani on his martyrdom anniversary. Hundreds of citizens participated in the rally. The participants carried banners and placards with pictures of Syed Ali Gilani and his famous sayings about the freedom movement and Pakistan. The participants of the rally raised high-pitched slogans of “Gilani Teri Shahadat sai Inqilab Aaiga” and “Gilani Tera Qafila Raka Nahi Jukha Nahi”.

The speakers including Pasban Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter leaders Zahid Safi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Usman Ali Hashim, Raja Aftab Ahmed, Amir Shamshir Khan, Shaukat Javed Mir, Azmat Hayat Kashmiri, Muhammad Yusuf Butt, Muhammad Noorullah Qureshi Advocate, Chaudhry Muhammad Mushtaq and Bilal Ahmed Farooqui paid homage to Syed Ali Gilani.

A rally was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Pir Panjal Freedom Movement in Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, to eulogise the sacrifices of Syed Ali Gilani for the Kashmir cause. The rally was led by Pir Panjal Freedom Movement Vice Chairman Qazi Imran, Chaudhry Nazir Hussain, Khawaja Ayaz, Abdul Ghani Lone, Chaudhry Wahid, Chaudhry Usman and Farooq Chaudhry.

Addressing the rally, the speakers said that Shaheed Syed Ali Gilani was the name of a movement which would continue till the freedom of Kashmir from India.
