New Chinese Ambassador takes charge, vows to work for bolstering Sino-Pak friendship

ISLAMABAD: The newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong will work for bolstering the robust friendship and enduring strategic cooperation between China and Pakistan.

“The recently appointed Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday to officially assume his role,” the Embassy posted on social media.

In the statement, the Embassy emphasized Ambassador Jiang Zaidong’s dedication to bolstering the robust friendship and enduring strategic cooperation between China and Pakistan.

Amb Jiang Zaidong was nominated as the new ambassador to Pakistan in July to succeed Ambassador Nong Rong who has been elevated as Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs of China.

During this interim period, the Charge d’ Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, Ms Pang Chunxue had been diligently performing the ambassadorial duties. Ms Pang was duly assisted by Ms Bao Zhong, Counsellor for Political & Media section, Chinese Embassy Islamabad.

Born in February 1970, Amb Jiang was appointed as Chinese Ambassador to Laos in October 2018.

Mr Jiang joined the foreign service in 1992, and has served primarily in Vietnam. In 2017, he was appointed deputy director of Department of Asian Affairs. He remained in that position until October 2018, when he was appointed Chinese Ambassador to Laos according the National People’s Congress decision.
