UoG, RRI ink deal on research collaboration

GUJRAT: With a view to boosting research through collaboration regarding ‘Nutritional Analysis of Newly-Developed Rice Varieties’, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed here at Hafiz Hayat Campus between the University of Gujrat (UoG) and the Rice Research Institute Kala Shah Kaku (RRI-KSK), Lahore, the other day.

The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar on behalf of the UoG and Chief Scientist Syed Sultan Ali on behalf of the Rice Research Institute.

The MoU seeks to promote research and analytical links between the teachers and students of the varsity and the scientists of the Rice Research Institute in a more coordinated manner.

Prof. Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar said that a better awareness of scientific research and scientific thinking among students would go a long way towards achieving our national economic development goals. He lauded the role of the Rice Research Institute in developing the rice crop in the country.

Syed Sultan Ali said that the intensive research and innovation carried out at the Rice Research Institute had produced better quality seeds for achieving high yield in a short period of time.  Director ORIC Prof. Dr Audil Rashid, Manager Shahzada Babar, Associate Prof. Dr Muhammad Zubair, Dr Sajjad Sumra, Dr Arshad Makhdoom, Mohsin Ali Raza and others attended the MoU signing ceremony.

Dr Mohammad Zubair and Mohsin Ali Raza have been appointed focal persons by the UoG and the RRI, respectively.
