LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has made the two-year-long process for the approval of seed and variety easy and fast track, reported on Friday.
“In a special meeting of the Punjab Seed Council, the process of approval of seeds and varieties has been fast-tracked and improved,” Mohsin Naqvi said.
“After the approval of the special committee of the federal government, the approval of seeds and varieties will not have to be taken again from the Punjab Seed Council,” he added.
“Under the Chief Minister’s Agriculture Reforms Programme, one will no longer have to wait for years for the approval of seeds and new varieties,” he stated.
“By fast-tracking the process of approval of seeds and new varieties, the agriculture sector will flourish rapidly. With this initiative, new seeds and varieties will come to the market and the farmer will benefit immensely. Agricultural produce will increase, and so will the farmer’s income,” he claimed.
“Earlier, after the approval of the federal government’s committee on seeds and new varieties, farmers had to come to the Punjab Seed Council for re-approval and the whole process took about two years,” he pointed out.
