Gresha, locally pronounced as Greshag, is a sub-tehsil of district Khuzdar in Balochistan. It is located some 80 kilometers away from the main city of Khuzdar. Balochi and Brahvi are the two languages spoken there. The population of this area is approximately 29,000. It is saddening to note that this small village is in the clutches of drug abuse, and more and more people are getting addicted to the menace. An unchecked supply of drugs into the area has snatched the peace of many families, who bread-earners have fallen prey to callous drug traffickers. To exacerbate the situation, there are no rehabilitation centres in the area or in the nearby region.
There is a famous saying that if you want to destroy a nation, never kill them physically, only provide them drugs and prevent them from education. Sadly, the same is the case with Gresha. Drug sellers are selling their products without any fear — obviously with the connivance of the local law enforcers. There is need for the relevant authorities to spring into action without wasting any more time and take action against the drug traffickers who are operating in the area with impunity. They must nip the evil in the bud as early as possible lest the menace of drugs should destroy the whole of Gresha.
