LAHORE: University of Gujrat Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar called upon Punjab Governor Engg. Muhammad Balighur Rehman at Governor’s House and discussed various issues impeding the promotion of high education.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of common interest and explored ways to further boost the cause of higher education in the country. The governor expressed his satisfaction about the successful big strides made by the University of Gujrat under the visionary leadership of Dr Mushahid Anwar, reiterating his resolve to provide more student buses as well as government funds for the proposed and ongoing research and development projects at the varsity.
Accompanying the UoG VC during the meeting were former mayor of Gujrat Haji Nasir Mehmood and Mr Waqar Ayub from the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce & Industry who have joined forces with the vice chancellor in his noble mission to uplift the standard of education in the region.
Rs200m Industrial Park at UoG
Caretaker Punjab Minister for Agriculture, Industries, Commerce, Investment and Skill Development S M Tanveer confirmed that a Rs200 million Industrial Park would be set up at the University of Gujrat.
The assurance by the minister came during a meeting in Lahore early yesterday with UoG Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Muhammad Mushahid Anwar, Haji Nasir Mehmood and Mr Waqar Ayub from the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting is viewed as part of a UoG campaign to strengthen the industry-academia linkages, catering mainly to the needs of three local industries – ‘fan, furniture and ceramics – by sharing our R&D results to help them make a worthwhile contribution to national progress.
