Peak hours

The increased tariff during peak hours is primarily meant to dissuade consumers from using heavy appliances unless necessary. However, most consumers, especially business and industry, cannot stop work even during peak hours as it would cause loss of production and man-hours. K-Electric (KE) may have to generate additional energy during peak hours, but the cost of generating additional electricity is the same per unit. It would, therefore, be fair if the additional revenue earned during peak hours is returned to the consumers in the form of low tariff during off-peak hours. They need to be considerably lower than what happens to be the case currently.
