BJP regime seals Srinagar Jamia Masjid, places Mirwaiz under house arrest

SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Hindutva regime has sealed the historical Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Anjuman Auqaf of the Jamia Masjid in a statement issued in Srinagar said Indian police officials of the BJP regime have closed the gates of the Masjid.

The police authorities have informed the Anjuman Auqaf that Friday prayers would not be allowed, today, in Jamia Masjid, Srinagar.

Meanwhile, the authorities put senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest and is not being allowed to come out of his residence in Srinagar.

The Indian paramilitary and police personnel were deployed outside his residence and Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, the authorities once again disallowed Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar, today.

Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, in a statement expressed deep regret and surprise over the authorities’ action and said they closed all the doors of the Jamia Masjid since morning and informed the Auqaf administration that Friday prayers will not be offered today.

At the same time, the Auqaf condemned the placing of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest once again after releasing him from detention recently after more than four years.

Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has once again been chosen to the list of 500 most influential Muslim personalities across the globe by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC), Jordan, for the year 2024

Mirwaiz has been listed among the world’s 500 most influential Muslims and is categorized in the political group for the 10th consecutive year by RISSC, Jordon.
