ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) strongly condemned the arrest of former Speaker National Assembly and PTI senior leader Asad Qaiser, adding that the court would be moved against his detention to ensure his early release.
Reacting to the arrest of PTI senior leader, PTI spokesperson termed the detention of Asad Qaiser immediately after the announcement of the date for the forthcoming general elections as a shameful attempt to sabotage and affect the transparency and fairness of the elections.
PTI spokesperson said that the arrest of Asad Qaiser put a question mark on the role of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding conducting free, fair and transparent elections.
He contended that the unstoppable series of unjustified arrests of PTI leaders was a part of the malicious plan to keep PTI out of the election race.
PTI spokesperson urged that the electoral watchdog should shun efforts of pre-election rigging and ensure provision of equal environment to all parties.
He made it clear that the brutal and fascist act of arresting Asad Qaiser would be challenged in the court.
